Dominica and Qatar Sign Air Services Agreement to Strengthen Aviation and Tourism Ties

Doha, Qatar – April 2025 | In a strategic move to enhance air connectivity and bilateral cooperation, the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and initial Air Services Agreement with the State of Qatar. The agreement allows designated airlines from both countries to operate unlimited passenger and cargo flights with full transportation rights.

 

The signing took place on the first day of the ICAO Facilitation Conference (FALC 2025), held in the Qatari capital, Doha, from April 14–17.

Representing Dominica was Minister of Tourism Denise Charles, who led the country’s delegation to the conference. On behalf of Qatar, the agreement was signed by H.E. Mohammed Faleh Al Hajri, President of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority.

The agreement aims to establish direct flight connections between Dominica and Qatar, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in civil aviation and supporting growth in tourism and investment between the two nations.

 

According to the official statement, the agreement marks a pivotal step toward improving air connectivity between the Caribbean and the Middle East, opening new economic and tourism opportunities by enabling access to new markets for investors and travelers.

 

Dominica’s Ministry of Tourism expressed gratitude to the Government of Qatar for this significant initiative, affirming that the agreement offers promising prospects for expanding tourism infrastructure and international partnerships.

The Ministry stated:
“This agreement marks the beginning of comprehensive cooperation between both countries in all aspects of civil aviation development. It paves the way for enhanced air connectivity, capacity building, and new opportunities across the aviation and tourism sectors alike.”
