Dominica and Rwanda Sign Visa Waiver Agreement

On Tuesday, September 24th, in New York, Dominica and the African nation of Rwanda signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) allowing citizens of both countries to travel between them without the need for a visa. This agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The agreement aims to facilitate travel between the two countries and strengthen bilateral relations, as well as open new opportunities in the fields of tourism, business, and cultural exchange.

The agreement was signed by Dominica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Vince Henderson, and Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Olivier Nduhungirehe.

With this agreement, Dominica joins a group of Commonwealth nations that have signed visa waiver agreements with Rwanda, including Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, and Guyana. Rwanda, a landlocked country located in East and Central Africa, is known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills” and had a population of over 13 million in 2024.
