In a major step towards strengthening diplomatic ties and enhancing global air connectivity, the Government of Grenada has officially announced the signing of a landmark Air Services Agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on April 14, 2025, during the ICAO Facilitation Conference (FALC 2025) held in Doha, Qatar.
The agreement was signed by the Honorable Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada and Minister for Civil Aviation, and His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia. The signing ceremony followed high-level discussions involving the Vice President of Air Transport and International Cooperation, the Director of the Bilateral Agreements Department, and members of the technical teams from both countries.
This Air Services Agreement establishes a comprehensive regulatory framework for international commercial air transport between Grenada and Saudi Arabia. It covers critical aspects such as traffic rights, safety and security standards, tariff structures, and code-sharing arrangements — all designed to promote increased tourism, trade, and investment between the two nations.
Prime Minister Mitchell described the agreement as a milestone in Grenada’s broader strategy to diversify its international partnerships:
“This agreement reflects Grenada’s commitment to expanding our global aviation network while creating new opportunities for economic development, cultural exchange, and tourism growth,” he stated.
The agreement also supports the deepening of diplomatic and economic relations between Grenada and Saudi Arabia and positions Grenada as a premier destination for travelers from the Gulf region seeking unique Caribbean experiences.
By establishing direct air links, both countries aim to unlock mutual benefits across key sectors, including tourism, infrastructure investment, and international mobility, ultimately contributing to sustainable growth and regional cooperation.
