The Right Honorable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis, held a meeting in the capital, Basseterre, with Minister Plenipotentiary Uberto Vanni D’Archirafi, Special Envoy of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for the Caribbean countries.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between St. Kitts and Nevis and Italy, particularly in the fields of science and technology, as well as addressing urgent challenges related to climate change. These discussions are deemed highly significant at the present time.
One of the key topics discussed during the meeting was the upcoming Fourth International Conference of Small Island Developing States (SIDS4), where Minister Douglas emphasized Italy’s support in advocating for the application of the “Multidimensional Vulnerability Index” (MVI) at this conference. This is aimed at tackling the unique climate challenges faced by small island developing states.
It is worth noting that the long-standing diplomatic relations between St. Kitts and Nevis and Italy have significantly contributed to addressing various issues arising from external and climate-related factors. With the ongoing dialogue between the government of St. Kitts and Nevis and Italy, it is expected that bilateral relations will further thrive, promoting mutual benefit and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
