News Details

The Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) of Saint Kitts and Nevis has announced the acceptance of cryptocurrency as one of the eligible sources of funds for obtaining citizenship. According to an email sent by the CIU’s Communications Department to authorized agents, this update requires additional due diligence fees and separate procedures to verify the source of wealth.

In addition, the Citizenship by Investment Unit has introduced other policy adjustments, allowing parents or children to finance applications for principal applicants, provided that birth certificates proving the relationship are submitted. Funders must also provide comprehensive documentation, including application forms, employment letters, proof of residential address, recent bank statements, and reference letters. They will also be subject to due diligence procedures and must pay the associated fees.

In another update, the CIU has discontinued the option to amend names on citizenship certificates. Instead, name changes will be processed upon passport renewal, with previous names recorded on the observation page of the new passport.

These developments reflect the ongoing efforts of the Citizenship by Investment Unit in Saint Kitts and Nevis to enhance the program’s transparency and update its policies in line with global investment trends. The changes aim to streamline application procedures while maintaining strict security standards and ensuring the legitimacy of financial sources.
