Saint Kitts and Nevis announced the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Republic of Palau. The joint statement was signed by His Excellency Donya L. Francis, Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the Republic of China (Taiwan), and His Excellency David Orrukem, Ambassador of the Republic of Palau to the Republic of China (Taiwan).
This signing was witnessed by the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, President of the Republic of Palau His Excellency Surangel Whipps Jr., Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines His Excellency Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, and President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) His Excellency Dr. Lai Ching-te. Also present was Senator Garth Wilkin, Attorney General of Saint Kitts and Nevis and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs.
Ambassador Francis stated that this agreement marks a milestone in the relationship between the two countries, adding: “This historic event signifies our commitment to enhancing friendship, partnership, and mutual respect between the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis and Palau.”
This agreement will provide many opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in various fields and will encourage open communication and collaboration between the governments and peoples of Saint Kitts and Nevis and Palau.
Ambassador Francis explained: “As diplomatic allies, the relationship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Palau will be mutually beneficial as we work together and share knowledge, ideas, and experiences in many areas such as empowering people, trade, culture, education, maritime and climate work, and sustainable practices, especially as both countries are small island developing states.”
