In a significant step to enhance national security and as part of the Fourth Generation Border Management System, Saint Kitts and Nevis has officially launched new and advanced passport. Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Terrence Drew, was one of the first to receive this new passport, which stands out from the previous one with advanced anti-forgery feature’s.
During his visit to the Passport Office on Monday, November 11, 2024, Dr. Drew emphasized the broader vision behind this new passport issuance. He said: “This project is the cornerstone of our plan to modernize Saint Kitts and Nevis. By integrating the latest technologies, we enhance our security measures and position ourselves as a leading nation in the region.”
He added: “This passport’s role is not only to protect our borders but also reflects our readiness to move towards a digital future.”
This advanced passport system was developed through the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of National Security and Canadian Bank Note, the trusted partner providing advanced technological support. According to Dr. Drew, the new system will allow Saint Kitts and Nevis to maintain the highest security standards, positioning the country as a leader in Caribbean passport technology.
He stated: “By implementing advanced technologies, we can better manage entry into our country, ensuring safety and efficiency for all.” The new passports are designed to resist any manipulation attempts, making them among the most secure in the Caribbean region.
This initiative is part of the government’s strategic vision to transform Saint Kitts and Nevis into a sustainable island nation, with technology playing a key role in all sectors.
