Implementation Timeline: April 2026 to July 2027 Transition Period
According to the official announcement, the program will commence on April 14, 2026. Passports issued prior to this date will remain valid during a transition period ending on July 31, 2027. After this deadline, they will no longer be accepted for international travel.
Authorities have urged affected citizens to complete their biometric enrollment well in advance to avoid any potential disruption when transitioning to the updated passport.
How the Biometric Enrollment Process Works
The government confirmed that biometric enrollment will be conducted exclusively through the official Saint Kitts and Nevis government platform and its authorized centers.
The process consists of three main steps:
- Application Submission: Register through the official platform and submit the enrollment request
- Appointment Booking: Schedule a visit at an authorized biometric data collection center
- In-Person Enrollment: Attend the appointment to provide required data, including fingerprints, live facial image, passport data scan, and electronic signature
Authorities also emphasized that all biometric data will be securely stored in encrypted systems, in compliance with international data protection standards and the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
No Impact on Citizenship Status
The government clarified that this initiative does not affect an individual’s citizenship status. It is solely focused on updating the passport, enhancing its value, credibility, and alignment with global best practices in identity verification and border security.
Completion of biometric enrollment will be mandatory for all citizens who obtained citizenship through the Saint Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Program before July 31, 2027. This requirement applies to all dependents, including children, in accordance with age-appropriate international standards.
