The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis has confirmed its plans to establish an embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, marking an important step towards strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries.
This decision was one of the key outcomes of the high-level bilateral meeting held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, between the Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew, and the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan. The meeting took place at the Permanent Mission of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in New York.
Prime Minister Dr. Drew stated:
“The establishment of a Saint Kitts embassy in Saudi Arabia will enhance cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, including trade, tourism, and development, while also providing direct support to Saint Kitts and Nevis citizens in Saudi Arabia and the region.”
He added, “This step reaffirms the country’s ongoing commitment to expanding its global diplomatic presence and deepening partnerships in the Middle East.”
Prime Minister Drew also emphasized the strategic importance of this decision as part of enhancing international relations with key global partners. The discussions revisited the outcomes of the CARICOM summit held in October 2023 and explored future cooperation, particularly in promoting sustainability and resilience initiatives.
He also noted that the opening of the embassy in Saudi Arabia will represent a milestone in the diplomatic and economic strategy of Saint Kitts and Nevis, unlocking new opportunities for interaction and collaboration in the region.
