Saudi Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Ahmed Al-Khateeb, made a special visit to Dominica to participate in the development project of Roseau, the capital city. During his visit, he met with the Prime Minister, The Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit and a delegation of Saudi officials to discuss bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Skerrit stated that discussions included various topics related to financing the Roseau capital project with the Saudi team, with further talks scheduled for subsequent visits. He emphasized, “One of the matters raised was cooperation with Saudi Arabia for the Roseau development project, and the Saudi follow-up team will be in Dominica within weeks to enhance these discussions. We look forward to this, as the development of Roseau represents a national priority in Dominica.”
The meeting also focused on enhancing relations between the two countries in other key sectors. Prime Minister Skerrit added, “Our discussions with Saudi officials also touched on building strategic relationships in areas such as culture, infrastructure, agriculture, and tourism, with a study project underway for exchanging expertise with the Ministry of Tourism-on-tourism marketing and development strategies.”
In conclusion, Prime Minister Skerrit outlined, “A team from Saudi Arabia will soon head to Dominica to benefit from their excellent experience in tourism, with both public and private sector entities participating in these pioneering efforts.”
The Roseau development project aims to transform the city into a modern and more attractive urban center, encompassing road renovations, bridge constructions, waterfront enhancements, and improved city lighting.
