St. Kitts and Nevis Announces New Agreement Allowing Visa-Free Travel to Nigeria

News Details

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has announced the signing of a bilateral agreement with the Republic of Nigeria, granting its citizens visa-free entry. The move has been described as a “historic milestone” in the relationship between the two nations.

The agreement was the outcome of high-level discussions between the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance M. Drew, and Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, held earlier this year in Abuja, as well as regional meetings with leaders of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

Prime Minister Drew stated: “This is both a symbolic and practical step to reconnect with our peoples. St. Kitts and Nevis has long offered visa-free access to Nigerian citizens, and we are delighted that Nigeria has reciprocated this initiative in the spirit of unity and mutual respect.”

Observers note that the agreement is part of both countries’ vision to foster openness and remove barriers to the free movement of people, aligned with the broader goal of deepening Africa–Caribbean relations. It also reflects the government’s commitment to its “Sustainable Island State Agenda.”

Expected Impact on Trade and Tourism

The government explained that this understanding will open broader horizons for cooperation in trade, investment, education, and tourism, strengthening the historic ties between Africa and the Caribbean.

In recent years, Caribbean nations have sought to diversify their international partnerships through Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programs, which provide investors with second citizenship granting facilitated access to dozens of destinations worldwide.

Importance for Investors

For investors interested in Citizenship by Investment programs, this development further strengthens the value of the St. Kitts and Nevis passport. It is already ranked among the strongest Caribbean passports, allowing visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to more than 150 destinations. The new agreement with Nigeria enhances the appeal of acquiring St. Kitts and Nevis citizenship as one of the best options for those seeking greater global mobility and investment opportunities.
