In a recent update to its visa regulations, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that citizens of Saint Kitts and Nevis holding ordinary passports must now obtain a visa in advance to enter Türkiye.
According to the official statement published on the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website:
“Nationals of St. Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis holding diplomatic or official/service passport are exempted from visa for their travels up to 90 days. Ordinary passport holders are required to have visa to enter Türkiye.”
This means that while holders of diplomatic or official/service passports from Saint Kitts and Nevis remain visa-exempt for stays of up to 90 days, those with ordinary passports must apply for a visa prior to travel.
It is important to note that this visa requirement is a new update specific to Saint Kitts and Nevis, whereas Dominica, another Caribbean nation with a strong passport, had already been subject to a similar requirement earlier in 2024.
Meanwhile, Saint Lucia maintains a more flexible arrangement, where holders of ordinary passports may still obtain a multiple-entry e-Visa valid for up to three months, and holders of official passports remain visa-exempt for short stays.
Despite these procedural changes, passports from Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dominica, and Saint Lucia continue to rank highly on global mobility indexes, offering their holders visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to a broad range of destinations. These adjustments are part of Türkiye’s routine immigration policy updates and do not diminish the standing or international credibility of these passports.
