Including The Caribbean in BBC’s Travel 2024 List of Best Sustainable Travel Destinations

Two Caribbean Islands Achieve Top Rankings in BBC’s Travel 2024 List of Premier Sustainable Travel Destinations.

Ranked Third: Saba, the petite tropical island, stands out as a leading advocate for sustainable tourism in the Caribbean region, lauded by BBC Travel.

Saba has introduced a range of fantastic initiatives, including a solar energy park, a marine park surrounding the island, a recycling system, a ban on single-use plastics, and a water farm to help reduce reliance on the island’s precious resources.  In 2023, Saba’s coastline was also designated as “Hope Spots,” which are critically important areas for ocean health identified by the International Environmental Marine Conservation Organization.

Included in the list at the tenth Rank: Dominica, an island in the Eastern Caribbean Sea, has embraced ambitious plans to become ‘the world’s first climate-resilient nation,’ according to an announcement by its Prime Minister.

The newly designated Waitukubuli Coastal Kayaking Trail, spanning over 60 kilometers, is considered the first of its kind in the Caribbean region, aligning perfectly with Dominica’s focus on eco-tourism.  The trail offers along its coastline a plethora of cultural experiences, secluded beaches, and breathtaking landscapes.

It’s worth noting that the best sustainable travel destinations are those that limit tourist numbers, promote environmental conservation efforts, adopt clean green policies, and uplift local communities.

Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment Program is one of the oldest and most well-known programs for obtaining second citizenship in the Caribbean region.  Investors and their families can become Dominican citizens by investment.  As a Dominica’s citizen, you can now travel around the world visa-free for work and educational purposes, making life more exciting and fuller of opportunities.
