13 February 2024 – His Excellency Mr. Roger Nyhus, Ambassador of the United States to Saint Kitts and Nevis, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Prof. Denzil Douglas, during a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  The meeting is aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and discussing mutual interests and priorities within the framework.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on three priority areas for cooperation between the United States and Saint Kitts and Nevis: security, climate change, and economic prosperity.  His Excellency Mr. Roger Nyhus expressed the United States’ commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing security measures and promoting regional stability. He emphasized the necessity of taking concerted measures to mitigate the effects of climate change and increase adaptability through investment in renewable energy.  Furthermore, he underscored the importance of enhancing economic prosperity through trade and investment opportunities.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Denzil Douglas expressed his appreciation for the Ambassador, Roger Nyhus visit, and affirmed the alignment of the Ambassador’s priorities with the agenda of sustainable island development.  He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the United States and Saint Kitts and Nevis in enhancing the common goals and addressing common challenges.

Minister Douglas also reaffirmed Saint Kitts and Nevis’ commitment to enhancing regional cooperation, sustainable development, and environmental stewardship.  He welcomed the opportunity to work closely with the United States to achieve common goals and enhance prosperity for both countries.

The meeting was attended by Mrs. Kaye Bass, Permanent Secretary, Mr. Sheldon Henry, and accompanied by Ambassador Mrs. Sierra Sailor, Second Secretary, and Mrs. Kay Hinds, Ceremonial Supervisor.
